You can build fleets even, and have multiple ships following you around either escorting you or hauling your cargo. Large ships would require a sizable boarding party to capture, and you'd take many losses. You have to balance the revenue against the death benefits you are required to pay out, so you need to make sure the fight is as asymmetrical as possible. I think that is the way to get rich, keep a well-armed boarding ship and sell the ships you capture. Occasionally boarding a pirate ship to pick up some extra cash. I'm having a pretty good time just being a courier and light freight / passenger mover. If I was, it seems like there is a pirate fighting campaign, some sort of civil war, and I hear there are bounty missions and such. Not sure how far faction missions go, but I've already been on several multi-part stories and I'm not even flying a ship geared for combat. I think it has more going on than Naev, to be honest. You can even bag a pirate Baccy once in a while, but you will need a crew heavy Heavy to do it.Been playing for the last day, seems pretty good. When you do get that first Heavy, send me a beer and start building your dream fleet. You can also bag the occasional Heavy, but the numbers will be tight. Keep some of these and sell some - they can be awesome escorts. With the bunked up Blackbird, you can now easily board the medium warships, like the Osprey, Sliver, Firebird and Corvette. When you have a few, dump the weapons from your flag and bunk up - you can get a crew of up to 45-50 on a Blackbird if you are creative. Rescue sold atomic engines from the outfitter and put them in your fleet. Lots of crew, engine room, cargo, and two full turrets.īuild up fleet, keeping your numbers from 8-12, cash in ships to buy more blackbirds, so that you eventually have a fleet of 8-12 Blackbirds. ![]() Make one of these your flag and beef up the bunks.īuild up fleet to 7-8, start cashing in weakest ships, buy the Blackbird from Tarazed or Dabih. ![]() You can now bag Hawks, Quicksilvers and berserkers, which will sometimes be equipped with atomics. Now my other two ships can do the fighting, and I can swoop in and board the disabled ship, overwhelming it's crew of 2 with 6 blood thirsty crew. If you can get down to Sargas, they sell frag grenades there, which will help your chances of overwhelming an equal number crew.īuild up fleet of 3 or more, empty flag of all weapons, replace with bunks so that I now have 4-6 crew instead of 2. This is the most frustrating part of the game for me, but eventually I do get a prize. I think I've only won like one fight and lost all the rest.īuy Sparrow, run intro missions, buy rifles, run escort missions, fight the pirate and attempt to capture him. I read somewhere that the reward level of the escort missions are based on your combat rating? But I have no idea how my combat rating went up so I could start getting these 60k escort missions. But I'm only successfully completing escort missions by just basically running and hoping I don't get unlucky enough to get a huge fleet of enemies (which has happened a more than a few times). I mean I can either get the berserker and have almost no credits left or do 15 more escort jobs and buy a light warship. I'm wondering if I should get a Berserker for 895k, or maybe just save up another million for a light warship like the quicksilver or rainmaker? Now that I'm getting these 60k escort missions, It doesn't seem like it would take too ridiculously long to save up enough for the light warship, that might be just another 15 escort missions or less with some trading done along the way.Īnd in general, I would be interested in hearing some tips on what would be a good sequence of ship upgrades? It seems like it might be more efficient to not upgrade every single time you can afford a ship one tier higher. I am currently using the starting sparrow ship. I just paid off my initial mortgage, and I'm up to about 1 million credits. ![]() Relevant links: Official Site Steam Google Group Github Official Wiki Discord >!
